From September 2024 the college day will commence at 8:30am, rather than 8:40am.
All students will need to be in their form rooms at 8:30am at the latest.

Below is the letter sent to all parents July 2024

Dear Parent/Carer

Changes to the timing of the school day

DfE guidance coming into effect from September 2024, is clear that students are expected to be in school for a minimum of 32.5hrs per week. This includes break time and lunch times, but not extracurricular clubs and opportunities, meaning some students may be in school for more than this time.  In order for us to meet this requirement, our school day, from September, will commence at 8.30am, rather than 8.40am.  This means that students need to be in their form room at 8.30am at the latest.  Timings of the school day will therefore be as follows:

Our apologies that we have not been able to get this information to you sooner, however, we have been working with Cambridgeshire County Council Education Transport, who are working with our transport providers to ensure that those students who travel via local authority transport are at school in time to be in form for 8.30am.

Kind regards

Sir Harry Smith Community College
