It is with great pride that I welcome you to Sir Harry Smith Community College, a school at the heart of the Whittlesey community and one that is committed to providing every young person with the best possible opportunities for success.
We are a fully inclusive college where every student is valued as an individual. We recognise that our young people arrive with different experiences, strengths, aspirations and needs, and we are committed to providing the support, challenge and encouragement they need to thrive.
Our vision is about much more than academic success. We want our students to become confident, resilient and curious lifelong learners who are prepared to embrace opportunities, overcome challenges and make a positive contribution to the communities in which they live. We want every young person to leave Sir Harry Smith with not only the qualifications they need for their next steps, but also the character, confidence and skills to succeed in an ever-changing world.
Our work is centred around three key principles: Attendance, Achievement and Enrichment.
We know that regular attendance is fundamental to a student's success. Being in school, engaging positively with learning and building strong relationships with staff and peers provides the foundations upon which achievement can grow. This is supported by high-quality teaching, dedicated staff who genuinely care about our young people, and a culture that values hard work, perseverance, ambition and continual improvement.
We also believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Through our enrichment opportunities, we aim to broaden students' experiences, develop their interests and talents, and encourage them to discover new passions and possibilities. We are proud of our links with local businesses, organisations and community partners, which help our students understand the wider world and raise their aspirations for the future.
We are ambitious for every student at Sir Harry Smith. We understand that success looks different for each individual, and we will work tirelessly to help every young person identify and achieve their own potential. Through positive relationships, high expectations and a shared commitment to improvement, we believe that our students can achieve great things.
