Attendance

There are clear links between high levels of attendance and high levels of attainment and achievement. Sir Harry Smith Community College promotes and celebrates school attendance and expects all students to strive for 100%. If your child is absent from school, before 8.40am, please either:

call 01733 703991

or

email studentabsence@sirharrysmith.com

Please give a reason for the absence,  otherwise it might be recorded as unauthorised absence.

Further support on attendance can be given by our Attendance Officer, Mrs Maddy, as well as your child’s Student Support Assistant.

Guidance regarding attendance and government policy is available here.

Referral for Term Time Leave

Family holidays are no longer allowed to be taken during school term time.  Families who take their children out of school for holidays without permission may be fined.  However, there are situations where the Principal may use discretion to authorise the absence in exceptional circumstances.

A parent must complete a term time only request form and submit this to SHSCC Reception.  The request will be considered and you will receive a reply.

Please note, any parent who takes a child out of school for term time leave for 10 consecutive sessions (5 days) or more, not authorised by the school (under exceptional circumstances rule), may receive a Penalty Notice.
